Gender and Biological Reality

The Alliance for Democracy and Freedom (ADF) fully supports the rights won by the gay community through years of struggle. These rights are now widely recognised and respected across the UK, and we stand by the principles of equality, dignity, and respect for all individuals.

However, we believe the original LGB movement has been overshadowed by increasingly extreme demands under the wider "alphabet" umbrella. While we respect every individual's right to live as they choose and to identify as they wish, no one has the right to compel others to accept or affirm beliefs that conflict with biological reality.

ADF stands firm in the belief that there are two sexes—male and female—defined by biology. While we recognise rare (1.7% of the population) intersex conditions, these are medical anomalies, not evidence of additional genders. Gender identity is a separate and highly politicised issue that, in our view, is being driven by activist agendas rather than genuine concern for those with gender dysphoria.

We welcome the recent Supreme Court ruling which provided long-overdue clarity by affirming that the legal definition of "woman" refers specifically to a biological woman. This ruling supports the common-sense understanding shared by the vast majority of the public.

We strongly oppose the erosion of women’s rights and safety. Biological males should not be granted access to women-only spaces such as toilets and changing rooms, nor should they compete in female sports, where fairness and safety are compromised. For instance, we have just witnessed the women’s pool final being played out by two biological men. If businesses or venues wish to be inclusive, we believe a third option should be legally required.

ADF also objects to the extended and increasingly sexualised nature of Pride events, particularly when content is presented in public spaces where children are present. What was once a vibrant weekend of celebration has turned into months, often with inappropriate sexualised showcasing in front of minors.

In schools, we believe in safeguarding the innocence of childhood. We are opposed to pride & gender ideology taking over curriculum-based learning in schools and have concerns about how these ideas are being presented to children of a very young age. We see no reason to tell impressionable children that gender is 'fluid' and we believe only scientific facts, not ideology should be taught in school to those too young to understand. If this is to be discussed in PSHE classes, this should not be before the age of 16 and with full parental disclosure of the subjects to be broached and the opportunity to opt out.

Finally, we reject the notion that children are “assigned” a gender at birth. Babies are observed as male or female based on biological fact—this is not an arbitrary label.

ADF supports freedom of identity, but we draw the line at compelled belief. Respect must go both ways.
